With more than 22 years of experience, Kim Anderson brings a wealth of knowledge in project management, marketing, sales, operations, finance, and technological advancements to Cardinal Strategies. She provides strategic leadership for Cardinal's future success, along with ensuring that Cardinal Strategies stays informed of and in compliance with all state and national guidelines. She serves on the board of the South Central Chapter of the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) and is a member of the Texas Floodplain Management Association (TFMA). Kim holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University.
Michael Anderson has a proven track record of delivering strategic and out-of-the-box solutions to complex programs and engineering projects. His wealth of experience spans more than 20 years and ranges from local projects to national programs. He has extensive experience as a Local Drainage Engineer and Floodplain Manager overseeing multiple FEMA CLOMR and LOMR submittals, with approvals averaging less than six months from the first submission. He has been a FEMA Contractor for numerous Riverine Flood Insurance Studies and has completed Riverine Floodway calculations for hundreds of miles of streams using both steady and unsteady models. Michael holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech University.
Thomas Caffarel is the head of Engineering Services at Cardinal Strategies. He has over 18 years of experience working in stormwater management in Texas and central Oklahoma. Thomas has served as project manager for over 15 years, leading master drainage studies of various sizes, channel and detention design projects, erosion control design projects, and closed pipe system analysis and design projects. He has experience with most modern H&H software including the HEC-Suite, XP-SWMM, and InfoWorks. Thomas also has considerable experience in the preparation of FEMA CLOMR and LOMR submissions and serves as an extension to municipal staff in the role of flood study reviewer for new development across a number of Collin and Denton County municipalities.
Ben McWhorter, a Texas Tech alumni, is a Principal, senior engineer and project manager for Cardinal Strategies responsible for projects in both DFW and West Texas regions. He has over nine years of experience working in stormwater management and land development in the public and private sectors across Texas. He has extensive experience as a project engineer on a wide variety of drainage master plans and flood studies for riverine, closed system, and playa lake watersheds. Ben has completed numerous hydrologic and hydraulic studies using varying software types such HEC-1, HEC-2, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), ASAPP, and various versions of SWMM software including both 1D and 2D applications. He is very experienced in working with local municipalities and state and federal agencies such as TCEQ, FEMA, USACE, and others. Ben has helped navigate numerous projects through the process of obtaining local and FEMA approval for many different types of Letters of Map Change (LOMCs). He has a strong understanding of the unique drainage systems in the South and High Plains of Texas.
Amy Humphries is responsible for managing Cardinal's large stormwater accounts and directs Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) production, from client management to final quality control. Her attention to detail and client management skills are critical to facilitating a smooth and seamless interface between Cardinal and its largest clients. She is well-versed in identifying and selecting the BMPs that cause the least amount of environmental impact during construction. Amy is CESSWI certified and holds a B.A. from the University of Texas and an M.Ed from Texas State University.
Calvin Bogart has developed a wealth of expertise in remediation and/or stabilization of water related creek and structure failures due to water transmitting through the soil. He is focused on the use of innovative designs and cutting-edge technology to provide enhanced soil stability in a variety of applications and extreme situations using Bio-Engineering and Bio-Technical remediation procedures and installations.
In addition to understanding and learning the technical aspects of the specialized construction Cardinal is known for, Calvin has also taken on the role of managing the construction group. His studies lend his abilities to take on this critical role at Cardinal Strategies. Calvin is responsible for the management of 28 employees and making sure the overall group is profitable. He has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Construction Engineering Technology from Texas Tech and an MBA from Texas A&M.
Tim Little is a licensed irrigator with over 23 years experience in landscape and irrigation. He has focused on commercial installations of landscape and irrigation projects for the past 10 years. As Landscape and Irrigation Manager for Cardinal, he helps us expand our construction services offerings.
Jerry Sanders is a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) and directs Cardinal's Construction Division. He has over 40 years of hands-on experience in the design and installation of soil stabilization solutions, and 10 years as a professional instructor in these techniques. His areas of expertise are bio-remediation, bio-technical remediation, reinforced earth technology, earth anchoring, modular and gravity wall construction, soil stabilization and de-watering. He serves on the Board of Directors for the International Erosion Control Association (IECA). Jerry was the founder and owner of Sanco Design Inc from 1975 until its acquisition by Cardinal Strategies in 2017. Today, Jerry continues his involvement at Cardinal Strategies as the Construction Services Manager.
Lisa Trzupek has over 25 years of operational experience in the financial and engineering fields. She oversees the day-to-day processes for all three divisions of Cardinal so that they have the tools necessary for optimal organization and productivity. Lisa leads the efforts amongst operations and information technology to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes to ensure they are scalable for future growth initiatives.
Judy Nelson brings a variety of experience in business relations, operations coordination, as well as a multitude of human resources and accounting functions from owning three companies. The employees, as the heartbeat of Cardinal Strategies, are her passion and highest priority. With the demands of our continued growth, she is responsible for obtaining new talent while working within the strengths of the current remarkable staff, benefits and compensation, education and development, and compliance.
Mark is the Director of Finance at Cardinal Strategies and leads the day-to-day financial operations including accounting, planning & analysis, treasury and reporting. Mark came to Cardinal with over 25 years experience in corporate and operational finance working for multiple Fortune 500 companies. In his current role as Director of Finance, Mark utilizes his strong background in financial leadership and operational expertise to focus on maximizing resources to drive revenue, corporate efficiencies and overall company value. Mark holds a B.S. Degree in Accounting from East Central University.
